A Primer on Categories and Tags

Categories

These have grown on me—I initially loathed having to categorize my posts, but now like having a few general headings to group things in. Useful if you’re looking for a particular type of post; less useful if you’re looking for particular content.

Musings & Ramblings: Generally single-topic blogs, often stemming from particular events in my life or in the media. These tend to to the personal.

Pinned Posts: Start here. These posts are at the core of who I am and what I write about.

The Weekly Review: Collected thoughts and events from the week, as well as links to interesting things. Often posted Sundays, rarely posted on a weekly basis.

This is Feminism: Replacing the prior category of “Women,” because feminism is about more than being a woman. Expect to find posts with trigger warnings, alternative lifestyles, and other subversive thoughts.

Tags

Less hierarchical, more descriptive. Tags might be informational (trigger warning), whimsical (no tags =sad mwr), or intended to identify a loosely connected series of posts (bicoastal). Some are dead ends, showing up only once; others lead down multiple paths.
